Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has warned Australia must improve its productivity if it is to cope with the ageing population. Treasury figures that forecast there will be 2.7 people of working age for every person over 65 by 2050.

I wonder if he is priming Australian's for an even bigger immigration splurge?

Work harder to support the generation that ruined life for the other generations... hmmm... interesting concept that.

The fact that retirement is in itself a ponzi scheme makes it all the worse.

Australians have to work very hard because of the high debt burden of the nation. If we add in ageing population, future Australian tax-payers (Generation Z) have to work even harder.

The path of least resistance is to fill the ranks of tax-payers with more migrants. But with inadequate infrastructure, population increase means decrease in quality of life per person living in Australia. Up to a point, migrants will not want to come, especially so if their home country is getting better and improving.
